Southern Division

Fiji's Southern Division includes Kadavu, the Lau Group, and Rotuma to the far north. Kadavu, 100 km south of Viti Levu, is the fourth-largest Fijian island and one of the least developed — no roads connect most villages, which rely on boat transport, and tourism infrastructure is limited to a small number of dive resorts and eco-lodges. The island is encircled by the Great Astrolabe Reef, one of the world's largest barrier reef systems, enclosing a lagoon of exceptional clarity. Manta ray cleaning stations on the inner reef wall are among the most reliable in the Pacific. The combination of reef quality, absence of mass tourism, and difficult access makes Kadavu attractive to divers and sea kayakers who prefer to do the work. Hawksbill sea turtle nesting occurs on the sandy beaches on the north coast. Pacific semidiurnal, spring range 1.0 to 1.4 m. Predictions come from Open-Meteo Marine (gridded model, ±45 min / ±0.2–0.3 m).
